  • Yes, on a few occasions, always received good service, never had to wait an unreasonable time for anything. They even rang me once to tell me me what I had ordered would take a week to get in and apologised because it said in stock online.

Once and not again. I actually find winstanleys more efficient which goes against the natural laws of the universe

Yes, bought a Topeak pump, said to be in stock, 4 days later got an email and phone call to say it wasn't in stock (good service, I guess, to phone me), so I said okay, cancel.

2 months later the pump gets sent to me, card charged. I had bought one elsewhere

One off mistake or habit? Who knows.

I think part of the problem is that they are a proper shop, but their internet operation uses shop stock but isn't kept up to date with stock levels. This sort of thing is annoying because I want to know I will actually get what I have ordered. I stick to sites I trust now.
  • they seem to have bad reviews when they are googled

  • Everything I've tried to buy has resulted in a phone call from 'em saying the item is out of stock. On the plus side, they sent me something better for the same price.
Gerrin! Love owt like that, me.

Sounds like a shop trying hard but lacking basic stock control systems that work.

If you're getting a good deal on something then go ahead, give it a whirl. Bright side, you get the right order within 2 days. Dark side you end up wasting some time, you get messed about and end up with nothing.

  • What I would say is that if you ask enough people you'll find someone who has not received the best service from any of the mail order companies. I like CRC, but have heard hard luck stories when buying from them, I've never used Winstanleys because of the bad press, but no doubt some get on ok. You can always ring Tredz first to make sure they have stock of what you want.

For me the best are Leisure Lakes, never been let down once, and great service, instant delivery.

If you go in there, the staff are ok.

A bit pricey, but they sell a nice group of stuff compaired to other LBS.

I have never ordered on-line with them so cant say, but the shop is nice.
  • ok thanks everyone, going to give them a go
will let you know how i get on

winstanleys may be ok on-line but their shop is a steaming pile of wa#k. usual time for getting served on a saturday is 2 hours. i once checked to see if they had what i wanted in stock then drove down there had to wait an hour to get served only to find what i wanted had sold out online. sad to say but over hte years ive spent a few thousand there but i aint gonna bother anymore. they were fine before they moved premises as they had a proper shop. now all they have is a huge warehouse with a counter at the front. if you want anything they find it on the computer then disappear into the warehouse for inordinate amounts of time whilst the queues of tutting customers grow. they really should get rid of the shop as its an afterthought and not a pleasent experience

  • I've never had any problems with them but then I only order small stuff. Usually you have to emphasise that a shop should be judged by how they handle problems as "i've had no problems" = "I've not had to deal with customer service" so doesn't indicate the overall quality of Service but not so in this thread. A wiggle thread on another forum is like that so I observed that if it says not in stock 2-7 days it probably means don't even try and order. Just cancelled an order from them after 10 days on dmr pedal standard pins and ordered from evans instead who had stock. Now waiting to see if evans can replaced the dmr pedal terror pins labelled as standard or if dmr sent them an entire mislabelled batch (evans don't sell terror pins)

Do you know why it wasn't accepted? I've just pumped the code in at the checkout and it does take 10% off the total?

EDIT: It does bump it off again when you go to pay though

Hey-ho, I've still saved £25 on a jacket with them, compared to my local LBS and other sites I've visited :D

Never used them before (normally Wiggle & CRC for me every time), but worth a punt IMO.

Surely if the code applies the discount and you click accept on that price they have to honour it?

Might be worth calling them tomorrow.

Got an email from them; the jacket I ordered isn't actually in stock, so have to wait a week until arrives from their suppliers

Very annoying advertising stock on your website when you don't in fact have it in stock :?

I don't doubt that they're a good bunch there at all. It's just annoying when you want something quickly and then have to wait for it. Had it shown on the website that it wasn't in stock, like you get at CRC & Wiggle, I may have ordered elsewhere. They did offer an alternative colour, but I want the colour that I ordered.

Actually, I wouldn't have ordered elsewhere as they were by far the cheapest for that particular jacket! But that's not the point at all.

I'm also after some winter gloves & waterproof 3/4 length shorts and I'm still considering using Tredz again. I haven't been put off totally......yet!

I don't use Tredz online as their Cardiff store is under 1/4 mile away from me and they get stuff from their Swansea location in for me to collect. Staff are great and the bonus is they are open on Sunday's.

If ordering something online and if you need it quickly, I'd advise calling first to check stock before placing your order.

It's worth emailing Tredz regarding any gripes (like the voucher code problem), that way at least they will be made aware of any issues and have a chance to rectify them.

This. Although they didn't have in stock a jersey I wanted, it was available on-line. Sent me the wrong colour (It may actually been me making the error when ordering). They sent the correct one to the Cardiff store for me to exchange with the one they'd sent me. Quick, easy, no fuss or hassle.

They were also extremely helpful trying to find me a TT bike for under the £1k cycle-to-work scheme limit.

Also, as an added bonus, they're open till 18:00 and on my commute route home...

I ordered a Toppeak beam rack of them last year, they then E - mailed me saying it wasn't in stock . I mailed them back advising that I had specifically ordered the rack for a weekend trip.

To Tredz credit they managed to source one and sent it out by courrier Friday for Saturday delivery and as a gesture of goodwill they threw in a waterbottle, a £5.00 voucher and the sides for the Topeak Beamrack which have an rrp of £20.00.
  • I ordered gloves form them over a week ago. Attempted twice and failed twice when ordering online, which maybe a mac browser issue, though not had trouble elsewhere. Due to problems I phoned to order, they took order and didn't advise of delay or that they were out of stock.

Chased a week later and they said they're getting them in in the next few days. The website should indicate stock levels, but didn't, ok fair enough, but you'd think they might have said when I call them up and place an order...
