5-10 impact, your going to struggle to find a more grippy shoe
    what are brakes for again
  • 5.10's insanely grippy on the pedals.

5.10's insanely grippy on the pedals.

Too grippy, i have both and would definitely recommend the AM40's over the 5.10's

Good price on wiggle at the mo

RRP is going upto £79.99 for 2010 models so grab a bargain now!

+1 for the 5.10, no slipped pedals while wearing these.
  • 5.10's plus 1, you sinply won't slip off.

They last really well too, had mine over 18 months still going strong.

Pain in the arse to dry out though.

    Sizing is the same as your normal shoes, I wear a 10 shoe/trainer and a 10 5.10.

5.10 does come up a little snug but not enough so that you need to go up a size

5.10s are great but with decent pedals you don't need all that grip, I do most of my riding in an ancient pair of waffle sole Vans and they have all the grip I need. I do own a pair of 5.10s which I wear sometimes for times when the extra stick can help, ie big rides where I'll be shattered ad my footwork might go off, or routes that push my skill a bit for the same reason. But most of the time, I stick with my Vans because they're nicer to wear, nicer to walk in, and they were cheap so I don't mind putting the miles on them as much.

Bottom line is, if your feet slip off with Vans or similiar sensible flat shoes, it's because you did something wrong, or because you're a riding god motoring down a DH track ;)

If you were wearing 5.10s you would be able to correct that mistake without taking the pedal hit to the shin.

Nah, not neccesarily, if you let the pedal get loose enough it'll slip no matter what, it's just more forgiving. That's why I break out the 5.10s for rides when I think my ability might be pushed a bit, to give me a safety net, but it's not a perfect cure. But it's still a hardware fix for a software problem ;)

You could always go with 5.10 Basics or Freerides maybe? Though the freerides have been slated for build quality, that could just be Teh Internets at work.

Five Ten Freerunner V2, stealth sole and not quite as 'skater' looking as the Freeride...
