Replacement for Ritchey Z Max

My old bike from many years ago had Ritchey Z Max Tyres on it, they did me well for a long time but were only a thin tyre at 1.9, on the bike I'm building I'm aiming for something like a 2.1 to give me more of a footprint, it'll mainly be used for trails, nothing mega muddy but must be able to cope with a bit of mud. I know they still do the Z max but I've heard the 2.1 doesn't really inflate to that size (It might have been on here) does anyone have any reccomendations? The rim i'm going to use can take anything up to a 2.3 but the missus Kona has a 2.3 and it's just a bit too fat, feels like I'm riding a motorcross bike but maybe thats because I'm used to the old school tyres..

Excellent, I've always used contis on the car and I've been pleased with the quality so that sounds like a good bet
