Gettihg back into biking after quite a few years off so to start with i'm prob going to be using my new bike on roads and some light offroad stuff, tyres I have on their are WTB Prowler MX 2.1, wondering what to replace them with to make the ride slightly easier?

Also what pedals to go for? Pedals on there are some generic standard stuff I think, why do I want to replace them? They look naff, a Halfords special almost!!

Tyres are very personal to use, on my commuter (MTB based) I use puncture resistant road slicks, heavy, great on road, pretty useless on trails (thank god for a second set of rims) or you could go for one fo the slicker MTB tyres like the Kenda Kwicks or one of those with very close packed square block treads.

Pedals, well I'd say gor for SPD's, £20 from merlins at the moment and you can go for Aldi/Lidl shoes for £20 when they have some, if you want flats, DMR V8 is a good starting point.

    Cool, thanks.

Will poss keep an eye on the classifieds on here and see what comes up.

Have got clip on pedals on my road bike with Specialized shoes, wonder if I could match the pedals up on my MTB?

Been using M520 pedals for a few years now, pretty impressed with them. Very durable, given that they regularly get smashed into roots and rocks, hence why I havent bothered with anything expensive.
