Shimano shifters on SRAM block and chain?

Hi - simple question I have sram x5 block and chain and matching shifters. I want to upgrade the shifters and wonder if I change them to Shimano will I be able to use the same block and change or will it need to be a shimano one? :?

    as long as your shifters, and rear derailleur match, you will be fine.

    you will need to change the rear mech as well.

    cassette and chain are fine as long as they match the speed of the new shifters.
