Just got my first real bike - an ex-rental Kona Dawg '09 - and the crankset is really stiff so i suspect the BB bearings are shot. I recently changed the one on my roadie with no probs so i'll give this one a go. It's a Shimano Hollowtec II but which one do i ask for - the few references i have found just says "Shimano". Any suggestions?

If it is a HT11 then just get some new cups and fit.

    read parktools for how too.
"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Most Hollowtech II BB's are the same tbh like FSA shimano and Hope....as long as you choose the MTB versions you should be fine.

I say go for a Hope one if you can afford it! Their very efficient and everyone loves them :D
