Do i need a trackpump to pump upto 120 PSI?

I have a small pump. I can pump up the tyres hard but new to road tyres, so don't know how close this is to 120 PSI. I really need a pump to accurately show the PSI.

I am thinking of getting a trackpump that goes to 160 PSI.

OR alternatively should i get a bigger more effective handpump with a PSI gauge?

Get a trackpump with a gauge - the Topeak Joe Blow is a popular one - only use a hand pump for on-road emergencies.

  • Thanks.

With the little pump I ended up using so much physical effort to pump it hard that i slipped and sheared the new inner tube at the valve. Good job i was at home! Annoying! Never again.

I had my eye on this one.

Can heartily recommend the Joe Blow as a long time user of one, very hard wearing and never had a problem.

You do need to go to 120psi then? Tubs or something? Track pumps are well worth having, they're so easy, and the JoeBlow's are good ....but a lot of people read 120psi on the side of a tyre and head for that... 90 or 100 is fine for most people, something like that... my car tyres have 55psi max written on them but thats not what I pump them too if you know what I mean (still, get a track pump though)
  • another +1 for the JoeBlow - had one for years...excellent pump and indispensible.

Yeah def get a track pump for use at home, I'd also say going above 100psi is too much for most tyres/conditions.

+1 for not over inflating your tyres.
