Torn sidewall repair

Hi,

I tore a side wall on my rear tyre on sunday, it's a Spesh Eskar control folding in 2.30. no idea how I did it, was on yoghurt pots in Holmbury.

The tear is not large, about half an inch perpendicular to the rim, right in the middle of the sidewall (i.e. not close to the bead or the tread).

I thought, uh oh ride over, but managed to patch it up with some duct tape and carried on as normal.

This got me to thinking, if duct tape can hold it, with no concessions made in riding style at all, then can a more permanent repair be effected?
I'm thinking superglue to hold the tear and some tape on the inside to help hold it.

Would be a shame to bin a tyre with much more life left in the tread.

thoughts?

Stu.

stitch it back up and glue a small patch from another tyre inside-i did this on the tread part of the tyre and have done well over a 100 miles since, cant believe its held together but it has lol

Ever done it, or know someone that has, and had a problem?

    Or just guessing?

    what?!?

some people have way more money than sense, whats the point of throwing out a tyre that can last another 6 months with a repair that will only take 30 minutes.

seriously dude just stitch it back up and spread some glue over it, its worth putting something on the inside too tho just in case, i recently bought things called tyre boots from chain reaction, they are for emergency tyre repairs, dont know if they are any good yet cos aint had to use them.
