Phantom P*nct.....

I have recently bought a Pearson Touché Fixed gear bike and am really getting used to it. Really nice bike (Although the chain does make a lot of noise. I will sort that soon).

My one problem has been 'phantom p*nct*res'. I was riding in this morning and was absolutely convinced I had a p*nct*re. Stopped, checked the tyre and it was perfectly inflated. This is not the 1st time it has happened. I always feel like the back wheel is rubbing or dragging on something but when I check everything is fine.

I have come to the conclusion it must be my tyres have a very poor rolling resistance. Is this likely? If so, what tyres am I best off getting for my winter commute. They don't have to be 'Race' ones but something that didn't feel like I was riding through syrup would be great.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Ben

  • Since being visited WAY more than my fair share by the P fairy, Ive been paranoid about them ever since.

Anytime I go over a rough patch, or feel a little bit of give on a corner or anything, im convinced ive lost my rear tire yet again...

Since going up to 120psi on the rear, there seems to be a lot less motion on the rear tire, so I freak out less!

    What tires/psi are you running?

  • Just looked on Pearsons website and they have brought out a new model (I only got mine 3 weeks ago) but I think my tyres are VITTORIA ZAFFIRO. I'm running them at 120 psi so I am sure it is not the pressure as I regularily check as well.
  • There is a thread quite recently about a guy having problems with the wheel flexing and causing friction with the brake pads even though testing on a stand shows the wheels to be true with no rub..

Sorry I cant be more help..
