Crown race removal

Hi guys,
As the title implies, I'm trying to upgrade my fork, but I can't seem to get the crown race off. I can only fit a very narrow tool (like a knife blade, a screwdriver tip is too thick) into the recesses but striking it (gently) with a hammer does nothing, and if I try to pry the race up I start to scar either the fork crown or the race itself. The lower edge of the race looks like it may have rusted/seized onto the fork crown.
I plan on taking the forks to the LBS for them to transfer the race later today, but thought I should ask here first in case I've missed something. FWIW, it's a Cane Creek race on a Dart 3 fork.
Cheers,
Adam.

looked in the FAQs? or on parktools?
you need to work the knife/screwdriver around until you can get a fatter tool in there."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

There was a thread on this recently, I did what it said on there and it was off within about a 2 minutes - but I did soak mine in WD40 for 24hrs before
Use a very small flat bladed screw driver to get the CR moving, keep moving around the race and once it has started to move use a fatter flat blade and keep going round until it becomes loose0 -
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I did look at those. It turns out that the tools I was using were too thin to pry the race up by an appreciable amount when hammered in. With a thicker tool, I've now gotten it off, and while there's a few little nicks on the underside, I can't see them affecting the race's function.
Now, to put it on the Reba...
Cheers,
