Rockhopper Expert 2010 Vs Cube Ltd Race 2009

For various reasons, including my employer holding things up, and the postal service grinding to a hault recently my cycle scheme voucher has taken an age to arrive.
I'm told it will be here early next week, although I'll beleive it when I see it!
I had my heart set on a Rockhopper Expert 2010, but during a recent visit to a bike shop near where I work, I saw a Cube Ltd Race 2009.
The Cube looks fantastic, the spec looked great too. I aranged to have a wee trundle around the car park on it and I think I'm smitten to be honest.
The rides a bit different to the Rockhopper, but not in a bad way and certainly didn't feel like that would put me off. The Spec seems so much better than the Rockhopper, although I do like Avid brakes, but hey ho I'm sure I'd get used to the Formula's
I've had a look at the reviews and some of the stuff I could find on here.
Should the fact it's a 2009 bike, and I'm not getting much of a discount put me off (I noticed that the 2010 bikes seem to have been de-spec'd slightly?)
I've also heard that they can be a difficuly (but fast) ride, by difficult I mean a tad uncompromising when you get the line wrong, Is this true, is it something I should be worrying about?
I'm by no means a novice, but not an expect either.
Any advice you could give I'd be greatful of!

if you have a voucher on the way from cyclescheme then technically you should have have the bike that you initially chose. after a year the bike belongs to your employer and they could (theoretically) want to see that you have the same bike that you were quoted for to begin with.0

Thanks gaanrow, appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Looking at the spec on the bikes it look it does look as though I've made up my mind, I think the difference in spec has won me round!
Good to know you'd still pay top whack too.0 -

Strangely our scheme doesn't work like that.
You didn't have to specify the products you were purchasing, and you didn't have to submit a quote. All you had to do was specify the actual amount you wanted, from £100 -£1,000, (in incraments of £50 if I remember correctly)
In fact you didn't even have to spesify the LBS you were going to use.
You get a voucher that you can use at any LBS that operate the scheme.
Must admit I was slightly concerned and confused by all this, but on speaking to a couple of LBS's they advised me that this wasn't uncommon. Various companies operate their schemes in different ways.
Quite glad acually, because it's allowed me a bit more freedom to chose, (and change my mind!).0 -
with mine i got two bikes worth £800 in total and he just put a bike down that was roughly the same price0

Cycle Scheme voucher finally arrived in the post this morning (after lots of delay and confusion between my employer, cycles cheme and the Royal Mail!), and have made arrangements to pick up my shine new Cube Ltd Race 09 tomorrow after work!
Can't wait, will be like a kid waiting for xmas morning to come!
