lose headset, worn fork bushes, lose disc.

presuming front suspension and disc brakes.

  • yeah claud butler xt disc. ive checked the discs and they seem to be tight. ive tightened the allen key for the headset so that its as tight as it goes. the bike isnt that new. only really started to do it after my recent trip to the alps. when i brake stodd still there does seem to be a bit of move in the headset though. ideas?

you did slacken the stem bolts first?

as tightening the top cap bolt on its own will do nothing.

    Read Parktools.

  • I had a similar problem recently, everytime I braked there was a 'clonk' from the front, it turned it it was the to do with the headset, one of the cups had broken or something.
I could also feel the play in the bars eveytime I braked, and when stationary holding the front brake, if you rock the bike back and forth you can usually see the play in the steerer tube....hope this helps.
