Basically this is Yeehaa's fault (biatch :P).
I've been umming and aaaring over the on-one since talking a week ago and decided its not something i'm gonna ride much and so can't justify the cost of what the build would have come to.
So its off in a completely different direction (yet again ).
I want something to "match" my bro's Stinky for when I feel a bitta rear bounce might save my back wheel.
I was originally thinking along the lines of a slopestyle bike, but I'm not sure that its what I want.
Main options have arisen from Specialized.
1) 2010 SX Trail 1 - I've been banging on about this bike since last year (when I really really wanted the 09 version) and still liek the lok of the 2010.. although I don't see what the trail 2 has over the trail 1 to justify the price increase
2) 2010 Big Hit 2 - Its cheaper, has similar spec, more travel and is more DH oriented so i'ts a bigger step away from a freeride bike (i've got the surge for that). Only problem is that on the spesh site, it has a domain 302 fork which I don't want
Bah I think i've answerd my own question here.... I want the SX Trail still.
Any alternatives to the SX trail that I can look at before hand?
Edit: jsut phoned a spesh supplier and the UK big hit has a Domain 318.... that makes things a bit more interesting..

big hit, if its good enough for sam hill, its good enough for me, (or you for that matter)I like bikes and stuff0
-
mate of mine had an 07 Big Hit. It had a rubbish fork on it but was a good bike for what he used it for. Matched my Stinky (although perhaps that is because he was faster than me )
Don't know the trek, but you sure won't want to pedal the big hit up. at all. Kind of like the stinky in that respect.Everything in moderation ... except beer
Beer in moderation ... is a waste of beer
If riding an XC race bike is like touching the trail,
then riding a rigid singlespeed is like licking it
... or being punched by it, depending on the day0 -

so you bought a scandal to built up for XC but now are going to sell the frame because you actually wanted a DH bike? I smell that money sense imbalance coming on again....Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

Maybe worth a punt?0 -
Commencal Furious Cedric Gracia edition looks a bargain at Merlin??
Doh - it seems to have sold out................
The mini downhill Supremes look like fun though.0 -
I've been using my SX trail 1 (09) for 3 or 4 months now and I love it.Canyon Spectral AL 9.0 EX
Planet X RT90 Ultegra Di20 -
so what exactly are you after? A dh bike or something to pedal back up again?0
-
He just wants a new bike, ha!0
-
The new Treks look interesting...... the Remedy 8 is gorgeous. If you want more DH and less pedal back up again the Scratch is also a bit tasty. But then there's the Orange Alpine 160.......0

Think its gotta be the trail... unless there is something similar.
I was looking at a giant glory zero... till I read it weighs 47lb!!!
Just got my money back from the Scandal0 -
BIkes i've looked at but always just gone back to the trail are:
Orange alpine 160FR
Trek Remedy 8+9
Meta 6.1
I just dunno what else there is...0 -
lol..
1) not in stock
2) over budget
3) Treks purchase policy
Trek is pretty much out of the question unless its a local shop for local people.0 -
The Remedy is less burly for 2010 - it gets a 150mm Fox 32 rather than a 36. The Scratch looks very interesting."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

Go for a Remedy...... if you are 6'+ we have a 2009 Remedy 8 191/2"on sale for £2k at my shop.... but obviously you'd have to come collect. If I had the cash I'd have it, but I haven't as I work in a bike shop0

the voltage does look perfect, if it plays anything like it's hardtail brother then it'll be a hoot to ride!0

how about a Lapierre Froggy ?0
-
I can't do it. I still can't justify the cost, weight or need for a FS.
I'm getting another HT.0 -

Shame.. twas a lovely frame but I just couldn't be arsed with it.0 -
Ben, I thought I had issues.....
So you want a 'burly' FR hardtail. Look at the Mythic Morphine, all the cool kids have them 8)

No I already have a "'burly' FR hardtail" :P
Thats why I don't want a FS... short travel is pointless for FS(my opinion) and I'd rather ride the Surge that a FS all mountain/freeride bike.0 -
Buy a zaskar!0
