Tyres & Lights - Advice Please

Looking for a bit of help please.
I need some new tyres for my Boardman Hybrid Pro which I use for commuting and general fitness riding (100 miles per week) - What would you recommend? I have the standard fit Maxxis Detonators at present and have been looking at Continental Sport Contacts.
Also, now it's getting darker in the evenings I need a decent front light - My commute takes me on some unlit country roads so I need something pretty bright but don't really want to pay the £100 plus price tag which seems to be needed.
Thanks for any advice.

Lights - get a road legal cateye for about 20 quid and add a tesco 3w cree torch (angle the torch down a little more as otherwise it may dazzle oncoming drivers)
Tyres too many to chose from.. many, many different reasons for chosing different types. Search tyres on the forums and you will find LOADs of entries, LOL.

Continental ultra gatorskins.
Exposure race maxx 2 (£160, sorry but you get what you pay for lights IMO and not worth scrimping here).0 -
For a cheap high powered light I would recommend the SSC P7's as discussed :

I just bought one lamp, 4 batteries and charger shipped for ~£40, about 500 lumens0 -

Weirdly I use the same tyres and have been considering the same light.
Do it, do it, do it!!!!!!!!
I'm v pleased with mine, the light when it's on high on an unlit road in pitch black has to be seen to be believed! (£70 off on them at wiggle too at the mo).!0 -

I disagree, some of the cheaper options blow away stuff like that light.0 -

Well ideally I'd need to try it out to see how it spreads light etc. If anyone can find a youtube video too that would help.0 -

I just ordered the below as a new alternative helmet light it is £8.50 delivered when currency converted.
It has an adjustable beam from spot to flood and variations in between.
It requires 18650 batteries at £5 delivered and an appropriate charge which is about £7 delivered.

Beam shots can be found below, just click on the name of the light on the right to compare and then below to see different beam shots.

Debateable (IME of course ). I've used both, and really like both, but the Krylions cut up much more quickly.FCN 2-4.

I found the Contis cut up far more. TBH I live in Wales and there's nothing that really cuts my other tyres, just contis.0 -
