buying forks

Any ideas on what forks i should put on my Marin B-17 project, Ive got some RST Gila plus on now, but think i can do better than them,
I plan on using the bike for XC and DH, I tend to do both, I live in a very hilly place..lol,
Also, originaly the bike had rst forks on it, pretty cheap ones i think, with only 80mm of travel, If i was to put forks with more than 100mm would that affect the geomatry of the bike?

What year frame?
Yes, the longer the fork, the slacker the angles get.
I'd get some RS Tora U turn - adjustable travel from 85-130mm. Not DH forks, but I doubt you mean DH as in the world cup courses we see ;-)0
