Specialized Computer Trouble

Hello all. I'm after a bit of advice as I'm having trouble with my Specialized Computer.
It's fine upto about 23mph but as soon as I get any faster it starts going haywire and the speed showing drops right down, often to 0mph. I'm not too fussed about knowing what speed I'm doing but if it's getting the speed wrong then the distance is affected too and this is what bugs me.
I had thought perhaps something was interfering with it, like my mobile or mp3 player but it's happening even when I'm not carrying them so I guess I've set it up wrong or there's a problem with it.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks, Paul

I have a Spesh computer and it goes bezerk if I need to put a front light on.
Also I dropped mine about 6 months ago and it's never been the same really since, not that it was a hard drop really.
Sometimes when I hit the bottom of a hill or the top of a climb and begin descending the thing goes ape and starts telling me I am doing 87mph or the like and I get home to discover my max speed was 99.7mph.
Also based on the distance and time I have travelled the average speed is always a bit lower than the mathematical reality.
Sorry that's not too helpful really is it, all I can say is you are not the only one having problems with them.0 -
Check that the magnet is aligning correctly with the sensor, and RTFM [seriously] to see whether the magnet needs to align with a specific point on the sensor. My Topeak does, and nothing happens if it's just a few mill out. Also worth checking that the gap between sensor and magnet isn't too large when they're at the closest point; they should nearly but not quite touch.0

Thank you both for the replies.
I think the gap is Ok; from memory the manual said the gap must be 2mm or less and when I first fitted the sensor it didn't read at all untill they were almost touching. I'll check the manual again on the alignment, there was a certain point it had to align to but perhaps I fitted it wrong or it's slipped a touch.
