Just ride more, and you will get stronger, then increase intensity and you get faster0

As they say, it doesn't get easier, you just get faster. It's miles. Do the miles, your speed goes up.0

if you haven't rode a raod bike you shall find it a huge difference to a mountain bike (if that's what you are riding) and you will immediately notice a considerable difference. the speed does increase but only with some dedication which is hard to sustain (i know to my cost) with all of life's other committments and winter approaching. buy a turbo.............. they are boring as hell!!! good luck!!!!0

Hey steadyrider! Have you got your Dawes yet? That was my first bike also (last year). Regarding the speeds, you'll be able to do it too! But what speeds are you talking? As you mentioned flat roads...Road: Felt AR0, Di2

Just out of interest, are you buying the bike new? How much? It's really not worth the now highly priced £420! I bought mine new for £250 last year, they haven't changed the spec one bit.Road: Felt AR0, Di2

You'll be able to do that in no time! Regarding the price tag, try this instead.... http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/14404/Dawes_Giro_300_Bike_2009 It's the 2009 version, but for £70 cheaper. Should give you some more money to spend on your gear etc!Road: Felt AR0, Di2

Winstanley's have a habit of advertising cheap priuces for things they can't supply - plenty of complaints on here. I wouldn't order anything from them, no matter what the price.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -

I went out with a group on Sat and they pushed it more that I am used to riding on my own it was a great experience and wish I could ride with them every week but family commitments prevent me from doing that, So my answer would be go along on local club rides that will force you to go faster and push it, although I got dropped off the back a few times they easied of the pace until I got back on I also did 60 miles which is the furthest I have ridden.Of course its about the bike! Although having the legs helps.0
