Hola troops,
I've seen a few phrases and words on here that I don't recognise so thought I'd start a topic for people like me to have their unknown phrases explained.

A rider's palmares is a record of their race results.
A list of races a rider has won. (French, meaning list of achievements or list of winners)

There's a lot of French in cycling. Palmarès in everyday French means the list of prize- or award-winners in just about any competition - politicians and athletes in France are just as likely to find themselves in the palmarès category as cyclists are. I don't know whether its meaning has changed in English to something more specific because I've only ever seen it used in a cycling context (I'm a newbie too) but it originally applied to those who won laurels. Palm laurels.
