Scott Speedster S30 Ultegra - £899. Good deal?

Hello everyone.

The LBS has a deal on the 2009 Scott Speedster S30 with an upgrade to Shimano Ultegra groupset for £899, and they have one left in my size. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be on their website anymore, but there is info here: http://www.tredzblog.co.uk/2009/07/chea ... tegra.html

I've been riding a Sepcialized Allez for a couple of years and am in the market for an upgrade (with the Allez remaining as a commuter). I wanted to spend approx £1000 - are there comparable or better bikes around than the Scott in this price range, or does the Ultegra make this a good deal? Would this be a reasonable upgrade on the Allez or would I need to spend more?

I've been looking at Focus and Speicalized also but am not fussy with brand.

Grateful for views on whether this a particualrly good deal or whether it would be worth waiting and looking around more for something with similar/better spec?

If you are not fussy with the brand go and buy a Planet X this weekend. Ultegra SL components and a Carbon frame for £999. But go and do it quick before they are all gone!!!!
