which flats and do they shred shoes?

MrsPisc has been using the bear trap pedals that came with my muddy fox back in the 80's and some trainers. I recently bought her some 661 filter shoes and thought I ought to get some new pedals too.
so the Qs are...
1. Will the soles of her shoes get shredded by the pins? and
2. should I go the V8 copies to introduce her to flats or fork out a bit more for a set of Wellgo B54?
I've been using SPD's and look for years so have no idea (but am planning to swipe them for a bash at the first opportunity)
any tips gratefully received.
cheers
Mike

Unless she rides like Steve Peat I reckon her shoes are safe.
You could always try her on Gusset's plastic pedals:

...but you can't really go wrong with any kind of V8 copy.

Those Wellgo's have a really notchy action in the axle or so they felt in a shop - at that price though I would think they'd be OK - the ones I looked at were 2 quid less than the V8's on the row above!
I'd consider the plastic ones - unless you like your missus to have bruised and battered shins. Or get soem shin guards too!Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
1. yes they will by varying degrees depending on the density of the sole.
2. buy the best you can, whats the best out of those two? dunno.
these get alot of praise, wellgo mg1

I've been riding in the same shoes for 18 months or so (Shimano MP56's) on either DMR V8's or Superstar Fatty Flats depending on which bike I'm on, both of which have pins that will draw blood, and the sole of mine are fine. They're pretty damn tough.0

Ive always run DMR V8s, feel really confident on them and my feet never move unless things get really wild!! Shoes are just skate shoes with sticky soles...Vans are good imo
But i do fancy a set of crank brothes 50/50s they look mint but i have no idea about performance :?80 x 80 is not enough pixels!!!!

i use v8's with a pair of specialized BG trail shoes, i find them really grippy!
there is some wear on the soles off the pins but nothing to worry about.2019 Ribble CGR SL

Thanks for all the advice.
I'm hearing good things about these mag wellgos. Will probably give them a go!
and perhaps some shin pads for the trails.
cheers,

please take my advice, you wont regret it
i have a few different bikes, the two best affordable pedals, i have one bike with the Wellgo MG 1's and another bike with B54's http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=5199
the MG1's are good and make the V8/12 seem slick, but these B54's are even better, they are wider mind if you cliip a lot of rocks maybe not for you but in terms of grip they are the best pedals i have tried, thats including sunlines, best 25 £ i ever spent on my bikeDont look at it-ride it! they are tools not f*cking ornaments
