How many links in the chain can I remove before.......

the chain needs replacing? I have removed 2 so should I replace the whole chain now?

    I suppose its down to how long it needs to be . I re-use lengths of old chains join them cut them to length.

    i don't see how removing links makes a chain last longer - surely you have removed links to make it fit and then when it is stretched (or snaps!) you replace it?

    No I removed them because when I was taking my chain off to clean it I pushed some links out too far and couldnt get them back in so it is now 2 links shorter.

    Depends on whether you can get all the gears - particularly don't try and run the biggest sprocket and big chainring - you should avoid these anyway as it puts a lot of strain on the chain.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
