So there I was in the forest of Ae just getting nicely warmed up when the front seat post bolt snapped causing me to fall backwards off the saddle

I was tackling a climb so luckily I was able to just hop off the side of the bike (no harm done), my question is - has this happened to anyone else ? cos I've never seen it before, and could I make a warranty claim as the whole bike is only 8 months old?

cue the bat fastard jokes  oh and its an Easton EA50 seatpost with a Charge Spoon saddle.

Could well be a warranty case - contact the retailer.

    Fat get ;-)
  • take it up with the pie company
  • thanks sonic, I'll give Evan's a call and see what they have to say.

  • i did it on the Fort William red run, ended up in a nice deep bog, couldn't find the bolt and had to duck tape my saddle to my frame so i could finish my run :(

From now on I will be carrying duck-tape in my backpack so I don't have to abandon the ride :(

Coasting back down the singletrack/fireroad with no seatpost has made me realise how much I rely on it for steering the bike.

Anyway, spoke to Evans last night and they said to bring down the broken bits and it should be covered by the warranty.

I heard of somebody who broke both wrists when his seatpost went. Could've been nasty.
