Just bought some Manitou Shermans but unsure of the actual model so i don't know if they are (Flick, Firefly, Breakout), how do i know or find out as the previous owner didn't seem to know either, are there any marks on the fork that identify the model etc.
Also what is the difference between the normal models and the plus models?

1 1/8 Steerer
110 - 130 Travel
20mm Axle
Does the 02 on the back between the post mount denote the Year, if so why is there no manuals or mention of the sherman for 2002, it seems to be 2003 onwards.
How can you tell what model it is out of Flick, Firefly or Breakout?

It was made in 02 - but maybe for the 03 year lol. I found the following for 2003:
At the bottom of the single crown lineup, and only available with 1 1/8 steel steerer and solid forged crown is the 5.4 lb Flick featuring TPC and 110/130mm travel.
For the more weight conscious there's the Firefly with TPC+ Position Sensitive Damping, titanium springs, 110/130mm travel, 1 1/8" or 1.5" aluminum steerer, and hollow forged crown weighing in at 4.6 lbs.
The baddest of the bunch, the 5.4 lb Breakout comes equipped with 1.5" aluminum steerer, 132/152mm travel, TPC+, and hollow forged crown.
The lone double crown Sherman offering is the Slider with 152mm travel, 1 1/8" steerer, and TPC+.0 -
So it could be a Flick or Firefly which both have 1 1/8 steerers the only difference being the TPC or TPC+. Whats the difference and how can i tell which one i have?0

Weigh it ;-)
You'd have to strip it to identify the damper.
This might help too:

The steerer has been cut so weighing it might be a problem. I guess i'll check the damping system out when i change the seals but thanks for your help anyway.0

Can you see what the steerer is made of?0

Steerer is Steel.0

Tis the Flick then.0

Yeah, funnily enough i was just looking on a thai site (led to through google images) with manitou fork specs and it said the flick was steel steerer and the firefly was aluminum but i probably would'nt have clicked unless you asked me that, manitou flick it is then.
Just need to establish the damping system, i don't think it has TPC+ but then i don't know how you tell the difference between the TPC and the TPC+, i just wanted to know what model they were so thanks.0 -
It has a floating compression piston.0
