got the crank off, now what? some sort of bottom bracket?

have got the crank arms off with a crank removal tool, now what? some sort of bottom bracket!

  • found it, apparently I need a bb tool which is some sort of socket in a star with lots of points shape!! see i'm learning!!

    driveside is clockwise to undo, non-driveside is anti.

    Well done so far,but bear the following in mind,
    There are different makes of BB which need different socket tools,
    The BB unscrews in different directions each side,
    The old BB can be well and truly seized into the frame and a real bi*ch to remove,
    Unless you are really keen it would be easier to take it to your LBS and let them struggle
    :wink:
