Cassette and chain.....

Hi,

I am currently running an 8 speed cassette and chain with a shimano altus rear mech.

I am changing my rear mech to slx, so will be changing the cassette size to 9 speed I will obviously get a new chain but what size cassette do I need (ie. 11-34 teeth???? )

    It depends on your personal preference really. 11-34 offer you a wider range of gears, but the change between them is larger. 11-32 offer you a less wide a range of gears, but the change between each is smaller.

    I ride an 11-34 as I like the range, and 34 teeth is nice for cranking up those really nasty hills.

    dont forget you will need to change the shifter if you go to a 9spd cassette.

    or you can keep the cassette you have and the shifters and still use the mech.

    what size whatever you want.

    I have just changed to a 11-34 from a 11-32 and prefer the way it rides now.
