I've got no cross experience, but I was going to have a go this winter. I was planning on just using some Mavic Kyrisums I have hanging around. Just going to put some cross tyres on and away we go.

The wheels that came on my Kinesis Crosslight (which got battered by a pothole on a winter run) didn't seem anything special, so considering i am not expecting to be setting the cross scene alight I figured anything reasonably tough would do, if that helps at all....

I think you'll find that they will fit. We used to run 2.1 MTB tyres on skinny MA40 - no problem.

A cross tyre will fit on a regular road rim no problem - I use 32s on Open Pros no problem. Lots of people use tubs - less risk of pinch flats and you can run them at a lower pressure for better grip. Just built-up my new wheels - some Mavic CXP30 sprint rims on Miche hubs - just waiting on the Tufo tubs to arrive.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • thanks- ill give my ventos a go then :D
