Hi,

I have hardly touched my Trek (rootbeer) and I think the paintwork is shocking ! its so thin and marks whenever its carefully leaned against something...anyway, maybe I am used to Yeti and Orange quality paint...

I went to put a bottle cage on the bike, the first allen bolt I touched shed paint from around the head and for some reason spins inside the frame. At first it looked as though there is a washer the same colour as the frame underneath the allen key head, however it seems that the whole thread is just spinning inside the frame, meaning I cannot undo or tighten the bolt.

I think the thread and washer is an insert that Trek fix/weld inside a hole in the frame, clearly this has broken loose, will it fall out ? will Trek replace or mend it ??

l know the ultimate answer is go to LBS, I cant do this until Wed so I'm pondering for now..

Thanks

so the paint came off when the rivnut rotated in the hole.

well sounds like it would do when a part moves when it is not meant to.
as you know it is LBS time for sorting the rivnut.

    Thanks,

so will this be a warranty issue ? Anyone got experience with trek for this sort of issue ?
