Noises when braking (different noises front and back)

I have mechanical disc brakes, I was told after a service a few months back that the pads were ok, done about 1100 miles since then.

The front brake is fine but squeals very loudly when pulled hard.

The rear brake sounds like metal is rubbing on metal but it does stop the bike albeit not as efficiently as I'd like - no obvious sign of rotor damage. I've looked closely and there is brake pad there either side of the rotor as it should be.

Never done any fiddling wth these so don't really know how to take them apart (can't find any model number either to refer to online they're just shimano mechanical disc ones) but any ideas what these noises may mean? (I assume they're not good).

Do you know what brakes they are?
My brakes usually screech if there is dirt on the pads

have you had a look at the pads?

the rotor might be rubbing on the caliper body or the pads may be now worn out......

    have a look.
Oh and you may have contaminated the front pads.
