Shimano front shifting problems

I am running Shimano 105 double chainring/shifter/front mech.
And the problem is, it normally takes two movements to swap front chainrings.
A long shift of the lever , then a further small one to get it up onto the big chainring.
Then a large 'click' then a 'clunck' to drop it onto the small chainring.
I found this on youtube and it sounds virtually the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KQqO1t8aYs
It might look like it, but it doesn't hit the frame.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Owen

You just need to slightly tighten the cable barrel adjuster on the downtube. (normally the one on the left hand-side).

Ideally, the shifter should shift from the smaller chainring to the larger one with one click of the lever. The second movement of the lever should "trim" the mech a little further outwards (a few mm). This "trim" is so that the chain doesn't grate against the outer plate of the mech when you select the smaller sprockets on the rear cassette.

You then will need only one movement to change down to the smaller chainring on the front, two movements if you have "trimmed" the mech. 8)

No probs. :D Just don't over-tighten the cable too much, try a quarter turn each time & test it. And yes, the downshift to the smaller ring does sound pretty agricultural!
