Hi folks
I am in the process of getting myself a new bike to get fit
the problem I think I have is will the bike be strong enough for me as I am 18.5 stone at the moment.
I dont want to spent a fortune on a road bike and then crack the frame or something
Do you think I should stick to my old trusty mountain bike at the moment or get the road bike
I have being looking at a few giant bikes
giant defy 4,3,2 and 2.5 do you think any of these would suit
I also have seen a claud butler milano also

Welcome cathald
As a fellow big chap i can recomend the Defy 2.5.
I bought one earlier this year when i weighed 19st and it has been fantastic. It handles well, is fast (faster still as i lose weight, currently 17st) and great fun to ride. I have even had a fairly major crash on mine when i misjudged a downhill bend at 27mph and the bike came off without damage, whilst i tore my shoulder muscles.
Buy one, ride it, enjoy it.
and keep us updated on how you get on.."If you think you can, or if you think you can't, your right" Henry Ford0 -
I've got a claud butler milano and it's managed with my 20stone bulk quite admirably.
It's not the most fashionable brand by all accounts but I got it cheap and it'll do till I'm certain I need a "better" bike.0 -
I got a defy 2.5 when at 22st, it's coped fine.0

I'm a stone and a bit heavier than you and I've been riding a Trek 1.2 for about 2 months now with no problems at all.0
