rear brake adapter rubbing disc

Hi.
I got a new wheel and put a new cassette on it. Now when I try and fit the wheel the IS adapter/bracket for the rear brake rubs against the disc no matter what I do. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?
thanks,
Gareth

more info needed.
what is the bike? make model and year.
the same for the brake and adaptor and what was the old hub and the new hub?
simple solution get the mounts faced.
complex solution you may have incompatible parts."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Its a focus black forest 2009

The new wheels are xt hubs on mavic xc717 rims. The old wheels had Shimano M525 hubs.
the brakes are Formula oro k18's with the standard IS adapter.
what do you mean by get the mounts faced?0 -
i would get the mounts faced. after checking that there are no spacers between it and the frame.
Or just take a file to the mount."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

In the end i fixed the problem by added a spacer/washer.0

Err HOW. that should make things worse."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

No it worked, the problem was the lock nut on the hub was too short0

Oh so you added a spacer to the hub not to anything in the braking system."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

sorry yes, only on the hub,0
