I have a spicy 316 withVAN 36 forks. Recently I've noticed I'm unable to stop movement of the wheel once it's in the fork with the through axel tightened up. I've had a look at the hub on the front wheel and everything appears to be normal.

If anyone can give me some pointers I'd be very greatful.

if I hold one of the stantions and put my other hand on the wheel I can move it left and right with a clicking noise, also if I move the bars left and right quickly with vigour I can hear it moving.

I think the make of hub a Lapierre one or at least that's the best I can get from the website.

    Thanks

Take the wheel off and jam it between your legs. Grab both ends of the axle and wiggle it - do you get movement? You shouldn't.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Ok so it is all "as supplied" the fork is the 20mm axled one? and you are doing up the levers in the correct order?

yes, everything has be done up as it should be. The same as I always do it.

    Daz555:

The cups which sit in the forks wobble and have done ever since I got the bike so I don't see this being the problem.

I have owned this bike for 5 months and covered the better part of a 1000 miles on it which includes 4 cycling events and a trip to glentress. I'm quite used to taking the wheels off and putting them back on again.

    Thanks

    +1

if it is a new problem then it will be the bearings.

well i would not be pulling it apart to have a look i would be pulling it apart to replace them.

remove the 20mm ends and drift out the bearings (presuming it is a cartridge type).
