i was considering buying this from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
so far the price is at £155 which is rather decent for a trek 1.2 but the dent on the top bar is something that im not sure about. The buy has clearly stated the dent is there and given pictures, so no deception.
Could someone with more knowledge than me about such thing check the pictures and let me know if the dent is superficial or could actually be dangerous. I don't really want the frame falling apart while im riding :P
Any help would be much appreciated.
ps. The auction ends in about two hours.

Personally i wouldnt but it as the dent is on two sides of the tube and quite deep. The bits are quite worn and i may have thrown a £100 to use it as a turbo bike or tot transfer the stuff over to another frame as a winter hack. Note it doesnt say how that dent occurred. The wheels and fork could possibly be affected too. This is just a personal opinion though.0

Thats some dent - I think I'd steer clear to be honest. I've never managed to do that to my bikes in decades of cycling - so thats some pretty heavy impact. Wonder what he hit ?0

The dent is an indicator of crash damage - the bars have spun around and struck the toptube - the fact there are two shows it's been crashed at least twice! Given aluminium's propensity for accelerated fatigue failure and there are two significant creases in the tube its highly likely that the frame will fail prematurely. Base any bid purely on the value of the parts - the frame is only fit for scrap.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Yeah that does look like a pretty hefty dent. If it's steel it might be OK as a hack bike, steel doesn't usually fail suddenly, but if it's aluminium, definitely no...Do not write below this line. Office use only.0

Aah didnt see it was both sides.
Deffo avoid then unless its just to be put on a turbo.0 -
