Can't stop spending

I'm off the bike with something resembling swine flu (got to get someone to get my anti-virals later) and yet I still can't stop spending on bike stuff! I tried to stop, I really did, but I just needed tyres! I've got on OK with the Michelin ProRace 3 that came with my bike, but tried some Conti 4 seasons (same 25mm width) and they came up much thinner, but with both of them there just seemed to be a bit of drag, so I've now ordered some Conti GP4000s from Chain Reaction as they were on sale (pair in white for £48, match the bike nicely). See how I get on with a 23mm...... when I'm allowed back on the bike

It's a disease. Pretty soon you'll find you have yourself a small stockpile of bar tape, tyres, etc, all waiting to be 'tried out'. No point in trying to justify it, it just happens :D

Pray that you find a girlfriend who 'understands'.

(I really mean 'tolerate', cause they'll never completely understand it... heck... neither do we!)

Or one that doesn't have a clue, like MrsNapD.

I say this a lot, but if MrsNapD discovers Google and looks up my bikes and hi fi, I'm dead.

My missus thinks wheels are tyres, so I just keep upgrading the tyres :D

I've just endured a weekend of growling and silence after buying a new bike.

She made me sell my other good bike that I'd had for years to fund it and make space for it so it's not like there's any more bikes in the house.
Suppose I could create more space by shipping her out

I had my new TT frame hidden in the loft for 6 months waiting for the right time to admit its existence.

Pick a colour of bike and stick with it. Most wives wouldnt notice the brand - but they are good at colours - so just keep buying the same colour ! Also helps you when choosing bikes - theres too much choice out there now ! ;-)

If you have swine flu I wouldn't bother with the antiviral drugs unless you're in an at risk group. Mine was high temp for 36 hours, couple of days with a tickly cough, bit of a headache, the odd muscle twinge, and now I'm back at work. I can only imagine tamiflu would've made me feel worse.

Naffed off that I wasn't able to get out on the bike at the weekend though, the weather was splendid.

Credit cards and internet shopping are the bane of my life; it's just so easy to click on Add to basket and Checkout. Having stuff delivered to work avoids a certain amount of domestic friction though.

My new bike will be arriving on Thursday, built to my spec, yet already, I am looking for bits to change!!!
I specced it with SRAM Force, to keep under budget, but found out today (too late) that I was so far within my budget, I could have still specced RED!!!

Simple, shove the force on a winter frame and change to Red.

    Next project is a fixie!!
Would have to be 2009 Red, too, as the 2010 has no red colour on it (that I can see!)

I'll go with the Force (no pun!) for now, if I get on with it, then I'll upgrade

Oh... Maybe I need a TT bike....

:lol: thank-you..... laughed out loud for ages, and even told Mrs CK which may have been a silly thing to do ref. any "small" future purchases

  • I cleaned up my Principia RS6 and took it to my LBS and put it up for sale to "off-set" the cost of my new Kharma. When I took delivery of the newbie I went and recovered the RS6 from the LBS. result.

I spend most of my money on bike stuff - the rest I just waste.

I've also recently wasted some money on running shoes and swimming shorts and goggles...... have yet to use any of them. Anyone got any decent excuses for not doing a triathlon?

Don't go there, if you think spending is bad as a roadie, triathlon is loaded with gadgets for 3 sports, so much more spending required.

I hate running and get bored swimming. That's my excuse for not doing triathlon. And it would eat into my precious cycling time.

  • I started my addiction by simply buying a bottle!
Then i got a new stem, seat post wheelset, bars, cranks, even a pair of TIME carbon pedals, not to mention all the tyres and tubes i have stocked up on in the attic, the 4 saddles i have and the ridiculous number of bike catologues i have!!
    Must go faster.

I'm on my 3rd set of tyres in 4 months.... none are worn. Also changed the cassette for a closer ratio, new wheels, new chain, 2 carbon bottle cages, 2 mini pumps, saddle bag, numerous jerseys and a couple of pairs of shorts along with carbon soled shoes. Am eyeing up new bars, stem and saddle now

What's the problem. That all sounds like stuff everyone literally HAS to have. You can't do without it.
