Unless youre actually uncomfortable with your saddle, or its falling to pieces, dont bother.

Else, charge spoon gets a lot of good reviews, and so do sdg bel airs (which is what I'm using at the moment, I suppose its comfortable..)

They are good but very firn=m. Love the one I've got but it's not great if you're in teh saddle 3hrs+ (I guess not many are unless you're using them every day and are used to it)

What is wrong with the one you have? Is this for your Ventura bike? I don't think spending 40 quid on a saddle for a 200 quid bike makes much sense really.

especially after spending £80ish on new cable disc brakes!

Yeah, 320 quid is nearly a Carrera Kraken - 27 speed, hydro discs, hydro damped fork...

Your arse is the same shape whether you're on a £200 or £5000 bike. There's other things to spend the money on but if you're riding it a lot, then what's wrong with having a good saddle? You don't need an expensive bike to go on long rides after all.

Anyhoo. I love my Spoon. I love my Knife as well, but that's just because I have a compatible bum, I don't doubt that the Knife could be an instrument of torture for some people "Like sitting on a razor blade". Spoon's a pretty safe bet, and a good price.

Agree completely, but after about £25 I think all you get is titanium/carbon bits and lighter parts in general. No point in getting a super light saddle for a £200 bike, when its not going to be any more comfortable then a cheaper saddle.

Mmm. Fair point that. You can get comfy expensive saddles mind... But then, not much point with the Spoon to choose.

What about those full carbon saddles theyre bringing out? Weigh next to nothing, but is just a lump of carbon. No padding at all.

Bring on the 5 inch thick chamois..

Yeah, you save 50 grams on the saddle and have to wear 2 chamois in your shorts to compensate

But saddle comfort is as much about saddle shape as the amount of padding.

brooks b17, best saddle i've ever tried. recently tried the Rido R2 (bought it for my wife as she was having 'problems'.

Neither of us could get on with the rido, just the wrong shape and size for mtb or road. Possibly fine if you have a very upright posture on the bike, but you can't put any power through it.

Anyway, brooks saddles, on my road and mtb bikes.

I changed to a spoon after trying to bed in my stock ex8 saddle.
I found it a revelation. Cheap too.

that is so true, have a wtb rocket with loads of padding and a fizik with bugger all padding and prefer the fizik, really good, looks the nuts as well.
