Hi

I have bought a new shimano xt crankset with a hollowtech 2 bb.
I was told off lots of people that it should fit fine and i would have no problems installing it.
But once i tryed to fit it on the right side fits smooth and goes on fine.
The left side tho does not it goes on a little like just starts to tighenup and then stops and really really stiff and wont move i dont want to overtighten it as mabay it will rip the threads.

I have check my bike and all the thread are fine and none crushed they are all smooth. And the bb's are all smooth and have no crushed parts.

I then cleaned out the bike and bb so ther is no grip or anything between them that could be stopping it.

Please can anyone give me am idea of what to do or can you tell me if i am tryin to fit the wrong bb.

My bike is a kona scrap 2005

Thanks
Ryan

ok lets be clear here you are talking about fitting the cups only?

and you are fitting the correct side?
you have not been supplied with 2 right side cups?

and you are turning it the correct way?

    Hi

Yeah im tryin to fit the cups and i have a left and right.

The right one is larger and fits perfect on the right side.

But the left one does start to go on but then get really stiff.

Also im putting them on the right sides.

    Thanks

OK LBS time as something is wrong.

It should be a simple fit.

nope they are all the same. unless it is an italian cup but then you would have more probs.

the bb will fit 68 and 73mm bbs and with a new spacer in the middle will fit an 83mm bb and likewise a 100mm bb.

    the threads are the same.

Sounds like the threads need chasing out. LBS time.
