every so often i end up breaking a spoke. to my knowledge this is the 5th spoke i have broken within a year of having the bike. i dont know whether the previous owner snapped any or not. it is now becoming quite annoying and means that i have to go out and fix the stupid thing before i can ride tomorow. argh. also i think i may have knackered my shimano front hub at cam woods today . damn. :x

The wheel needs a rebuild with new spokes - they are fatigued and will keep snapping.

    New wheel time!

I wouldn't worry about 1 spoke, the wheel is still ok to ride, does soound like its knackered though and will need a new wheel or relacing, if the hub is knackered anyway go for a new wheel

No, it is definitely not ok to ride! Tension will be very uneven, the wheel weakened and more will break.

If you are going to post replies like that, that could lead to injury, please do not post in the tech section

dont worry i am not that stupid to listen to that reply and ride. anyway i have fixed the spoke now and replaced it with an new one. i have also trued the wheel and all seems fine after a thrash at the dh course. i will save up for new wheel eventually. and guys seriously if you give help make sure what you are saying is true. because if somebody that doesnt no mch about bikes follows a wrong comment it could end badly. thanks all the same though.
