God only knows why and I am sure even He is confused, but recently I have been experimenting with different socks on my rides.
I bought a range of Nike, Adidas. Diadora etc and none of them cycling specific.
The Nike dri-fits are quite impressive but too long for my liking. They are so good at wicking away moisture that they are almost dry when they come out of the washing machine. I did a double check to see if I had actually turned the machine on and yes everything else was damp.
But, the biggest surprise were the Adidas clima cool socks. Wow. They are very thin, have no cushioning and wick impressively. To my surprise they have turned out to be extremely comortable. So much so in fact, I bought some more!
So if you are looking for inexpensive socks (my clima cools cost 350ish for 2 pairs which is around 3/4 GBP per pair) then the clima cools are a good choice.
Do you have a sock preference?

The cheapest ones that Decathlon happen to be selling at the time!
We don't get much call for warm weather socks in the UK but I'll give those clima-cool ones a look just in case, ta!0 -
I've just bought my first cycling-specific socks - Endura Coolmax jobbies, £9 for 3 pairs on CRC

Quite thin so probably for summer only, but very comfy, dry quick, stay up - very impressed so far.0 -

Do that.
I should note however that no matter how hard I have looked on the net I cannot find these socks anywhere. There are a few climacool socks on the web it seems, but none resemble the ones I bought, which seem pretty advanced.
Perhaps it is a new model or purely related to Asia. I will keep searching.0 -
I've had lots of different socks - cant honestly say I have noticed the performance of any of them. They're just socks to me ?0

me too cougie.
But there is no reason technology can work on a jersey and shorts and not for socks.
As I say I was really impressed with the climacools as my feet did not even seem to get hot, which considering the heat here in Thailand is impresssive.
Anyway, just thought it might be a useful heads-up, but like I mentioned I cannot find the damn things anywhere on the net, so cannot post a link for people to see what I am on about. None of the climacools I have found are the same as mine.0 -

+1 I whisper.
3 for the price of 2 only £10 a pair! Assos are good too and last a very long time. Lidl had some short socks at £2.00 for 3 pairs which were good too.Pegoretti

Gore Xenon
Endura coolmax are cheap, cheerful and thin, and the Defeet range are fine but the Xenons are the best I've used for roadie stuff. Wiggle have them.
For mtbing then the Alp-X, again from Gore are the best I've used. Got mine from Evans but ebay has them too I think.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
+1 Endura coolmax. They even do a winter version, which is equally good.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0

DeFeet Aireator are my favourite socks. Very comfy and keep my feet nice and cool.
And for winter, DeFeet Woolie Boolies are the dog's danglies.0 -

So to answer your question, yes they are genuine, and I will try to find some more so I can write down the code number etc.
A lot of their stuff is made in this region anyhow. Even Giro's new gloves are made somewhere in Asia.0 -
[whisper] Another quiet vote for Rapha Merino socks [/whisper]Complicating matters since 19650

M+S Luxury Merino Socks.
I see the Rapha ones have L&R marked on. Presumably this in not because they are foot specific but rather that if your stupid enough to pay £15 for a pair of socks, you might need some help working out which foot is which?0 -
I got some of the Lidl's ones the last time and have been very happy with them plus they have some more out at the mo £1.99 for 2, I will be getting some more.0

My summer socks are all from Lidl and Aldi and are more than acceptable. For winter I use Lewis Kit merino and very good they are as well.0

I too have a pair of Rapha Merino socks and find them very good...0

Lidl O.K. but only use them for short rides.
So - now don't laugh - have been using M & S sports socks for years now, long in winter, short in summer, though I have also used a few of the longs for the LA/David Millar Tour look - yes, they are BLACK !
Think they are around £10 for pack of 5, maybe 3, not bought any recently as they last years. My knees hurt !0 -
DeFeet for me they just work really wellYou live and learn. At any rate, you live0
