Hi,

I may be buying a used Allez (54) next week. If i buy it i have to collect in London then get it back to sunny Newcastle.

My question is, would this bike fit on the back seat of a new shape BMW 5 series with the front wheel off or am i going to take my cycle carrier with me ??? (prefer not too as i've a long drive up the M1 and knowing my luck some toerag will nick it off the back when i'm in the services !!!)

Cheers.

Lee.

I reckon it will go on the back seat. Why not take both wheels off though ? Then it will definitely work ?

My 56 Allez went in a 5 series in front of the back seat in the footwell with both wheels off, just make sure you have something on the floor and seats to stop oilstains from the chain/set.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

My 57 Bianchi fits easily onto the back seat of my new shape 5 series with just the front wheel off. It also fits easily into the boot with both wheels off. I'd echo the comment about protecting the seat though. You should also me careful to position the bike such that the chain rings are away from the seat.

    Thks Guys,

Going to have a weeks worth of work stuff/clothes so it's good news that it'll fit in the back. I'll take some towels etc to stop the leather seats getting wrecked.....

Oh thats if it's not sold by next friday !!!!!!

    Cheers.

I can answer this Q , the rest of you are correct the 54 allez will have no prob fitting in the back of the series 5 BMW, my dad fitted my new speciallized tarmac elite 56 in the back of his M3 withe ease. BUt be mindfull of what redvee and lessykoi said about prtection, do not let the chainset blend with the seats or you will be cursing the bike before you ride it !! wrap a cloth around the entire drivetrain, then it will not only protect but stop you looking back every five mins to see if its moved lol lol

Save driving and show us on return to sunny Newcastle

    Thks Guys,

Picking up bikes in far flung parts of the country seem to be the only perks of travelling 30k miles PA with work !!!!

If i get it pics soon.

    Cheers.

Beemer drivers ride Spesh & Trek. Stereotype confirmed!

    I've seen a 54 Allez go in the book of a Passat . 5 series souldn't be a problem.
