Flanders vs Roubaix

Anyone done both of these. I'd be interested to see how they compare as a few of us are considering both next year.

  • Flanders = joyful* (it's basically like a monster club run rather than a race-like sportive)

    Roubaix = painful (you'll come to dread the approach of even the shortest section of pave by the end)




    (*I did the middle distance 140 km one in good weather.)

    The Tour of Flanders is linked to the PRO event, so you can make a weekend out of it and the athmosphere is incredible.

    The Roubaix isn't linked to the PRO event so it's just another sportive

    The RVV is also more interesting, with the challenge of the cobbled climbs

    Flanders - ace fun this year, and brilliant for all the reasons stated above. Currently my no.1 sportive experience (and that includes Étapes).

    Roubaix - not done it. I know it's not at the "right" time of year, and it's likely to break me and my bike, but it just has to be done....
