Just wondering what other peoples bars are, your bar width and how you like them?

Looking on crc, around 600mm seems to be most common, but thera also some silly sHort and long varieties too!

660mm ritchey pros atm, but id like somethin wider for more flickability. im so used to the position anything narrower just feels wierd. been looking at cutting down some race face atlas fr's to about 700mm maybe abit wider for abit.

I find that around 640mm suits me best.

620-640 on both currently running hardtails. Any wider upsets my natural balance and brings the elbows straighter.

NS Proof bars 690mm wide with 3" rise.

700mm gives me the right amount control, I don't feel like I need any wider

Have you tried the new exotic bars you brought yet, I decided to get some and the stem for my new build but It's not ready to ride yet just wondered If they were the bargain they seem to be.

68-mm Truvativ Noir Teams- seems to be my ideal width, I slowly went up from 600 to 640 to 660 but my arms kept creeping out, at 680mm my hands are naturally on the grips. Perfect.

685 monkey lites on my Stumpy; 46cm truvatives on my crosser. I'm pretty tall, so like a bit of width.

700 is about right for me.

my 2 main bikes have 660mm and feel good and solid (ritchey wcs carbon low risers on stumpy and racface xc on the enduro, but i fancy some 700mm sunline bars for that)

my older stumpy has 620mm fsa kforce risers in 25.4mm flavour and they feel very twitchy and very flexible!

racface xc on the enduro, but i fancy some 700mm sunline bars for that)

Can recommend them - they feel great!

Incidentally before I forget (for anyone interested). I asked at the CarbonCycles forum about the possibility of some 700mm Matrix carbon / alloy bars and they are looking into longer widths but have no firm dates

711mm Sunline V1. So much more control than narrower bars, I was surprised at how noticeable it is.

640mm RF Deus risers.Wide enough for control, but not too wide to squeze through the gaps in my local woods.

I seem to find narrower more controlable, for some reason. Until I get down to less than 600mm. 700 and above is just awful for me.

I've currently got a 650 mm on there but thinking of going wider, my shoulders are pretty wide and I feel a little squished-in ATM.
  • Hmm this kinda sucks. I like wider bars, but the widest carbon bars I can see are some ritchey wcs carbon at 660mm :(

but I think a bit of a shorter bar would help with the slower steering of the 29er. What your thoughts?

how wide are the sunline v1 crbons?

i have those ritchey ones on my stumpy and they feel real nice, look ace too.

edit, the sunlines are 685 but they are 90 quid

Exotic do a wide scandium DH bar at good price and weight:

On ebay for 35 quid I think.

    V1s are very expensive.

V2s are more on the money (no carbon though  )

My Noirs are 680mm. Easton Monkeylite comes in 685mm, or the Monkeylite DH in 711mm...

  • Lol I picked up some monkey lights yesterday!
Insanely light and not wide at all! Not sure if they come in different lengths though...

thats quite tempting for the money, i dont like the graphics but you cant argue with the spec. whats the score with scandium anyway, i have just fitted a set of scandium bars for my roadie but only cause they were a decent price weight and were white, i didnt consider the material.

Its alu alloy with a small amount of scandium added - it increases the tensile strength to almost double in some cases.

The bar I linked to is the standard high rise bar, there is a heavier DH bar.

Yeah, loads... My flat Monkeys are only about 560mm, which is barely wide enough to get the grips on  Horrible. I keep trying to sell them, then people say "Isn't that really narrow" and I say "Yeah, it's ****ing horrible", then I never hear from them again
