fork corrosion

Ive got RS toras on my bike, theyre better than me and still sparklio after a years use. Saw my mates bike today and his similar Toras have started to get tiny rust spots on the chrome legs.
can this be prevented for me?
can it be polished out for him?

    Yep, keep them clean, ride them often and apply a little chain lube on the stachions from time to time. Should prevent the fork zits.
    It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
