Cheap downhill bike

Hi wanting a bit of advice, I'm after a bike I can leave in Scotland with the relatives I've got about £500 quid, I'd like it for DH but I'd be restricting myself to just downhill when some off the forest tracks look brilliant, I have a hardtail at home but Fort William looks like a full sus would be best, or do I sell the hardtail and get one bike that does everything and take it to Scotland every time,

How hard is the DH? And how often?
To be frank full on DH bikes for £500 do not exist. Maybe you need a middle of the road machine that can handle some light DH?0 -
Sorry for the delay my mobile Internet in Scotland is useless, yes I want to try the orange and red run at fort William but I won't be breaking any records, I don't want to wreck my hardtail on it , if I sell my hardtail I could probably manage 2k but it would have to get me to work and some xc around the peak district, and road riding with the missus,
do I need more than one bike or several, my wish list would be one for work and the missus and one for the peak district, trail parks and the occasional Scotland trip would be ideal but missus is getting mad every time I swap the bike or suggest I need another one,

The Carrera Banshee is worth a look.
Fairly tough for some hard riding - is heavy though.0 -
Go second hand - might be able to get a slightly older Big Hit or Giant Glory for £500. Or get something like an older Enduro or SX Trail with big tyres/forks on if you want to be able to pedal it uphill.0

Second hand sounds spot on, I can leave that in Scotland and take my rockhopper with me when I go for the trails,
