    yes - ultegra
  • Though if like Dura-Ace 7900, the new Ultegra 6700 is probably not backwards compatible so the new shifters would mean new front & rear mechs too.

Does anyone know whether this is the case, or whether there is a way round?
There's no such thing as too old.

Yes, Campagnolo since 1994! External cables are sooo last century dahlings
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

couple of years and all shimano will have them probably as long as they make good enough for all gorups

teams like cervelo have switched back to last years dura ace this year and other teams have just left for sram so maybe not
  • Was talking to my LBS about the new Dura Ace/Ultegra backwards compatibility and the only issue seems to be that a new front mech is required, previous generation Dura Ace, Ultegra and Ultegra-SL rear works fine with the latest generation STIs

No time to dig it out, but I think I sawa on another thread that the Ultegra 6700 STIs are backwards compatible for font and rear mechs and brakes i.e. you cn just change the shifters and leave evnrything else.

£270 to hide your gear cables is quite a lot though

P.S. doesn't mean I won't be doing it some time....

Hi, have just swapped my Ultegra SL STi's for the new 6700 version and can confirm that it was a straight swap, no other upgrades needed. They are sooo much more comfortable and no cables!
