Changing parts over to new frame, front mech HELP!!!

Hi Guys,

I bought a new Merlin Malt 1 frame last week and have fitted all the parts over from my old bike. All has gone smoothly enough until fitting the front mech.

I can't position it low enough so the chain doesn't catch the cage when its in the granny ring and have it clear the large chain ring. It's a alivio mech with dual pull. The cage also seems way to close to the tyre when working on the granny ring. I also can't set the cable so it pulls parallel from the outer cable to where it attaches to the mech. It's a top pull but can't attach it without it pulling to one side.

I hope this makes sense and someone can help me out.

did you solve the problem ? just that i just bought a merlin, thinks its a Malt, and came with no front mech, tried a couple i had at home, same problem as you due to the frame gusset.

How did you overcome the problem ?

I have had problems with this frame before, but with a deore mech. It would bottom out on the mech body rather than the L stop.

We need to know your full set up and model numbers.

Yes, I sorted it by fitting this Alivio mech, it works a treat now.
