Garbage heart rate

Went for a 1.5 hour ride today and when I looked at the heart rate at the end of the ride there was a 5 minute section where it was allegedly 200-220 bpm, then it settled back to more normal values around the 140-160 mark. The section was not hilly and i was not out of breath though coasting along at a good 20mph. So i can only assume that something was wrong with the transmitter. Is this a sign of the need for new batteries? Or have i just discovered an ectopic heart beat? If it was a battery issue i would have thought things would have got worse on the ride. Any Ideas? Its a Garmin forerunner monitor.

mine used to go a bit mental sometimes, for no apparent reason - and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my heart. maybe there was a UFO flying overhead... ;)

Yeah some guys report if they go under an electric pylon for instance it screws up the readings for a brief section.
