In my quest for a second bike (taking advantage of the Cyclescheme) I've thought about a long travel hardtail, a roadbike!!! or a 29er. I know absolutely nothing about 29ers, so are their any people out there with one, and could you recommendanything for around the grand budget?

inbred 29er.
Frames are £125, wheels are £125 (including tyres), carbon forks are 125. Deore disc group £169 and Raceface bar/stem post £79 from Merlin. Grips/saddlle and headset won't cost much over £50. That makes it under £700. IMO you won't get a better one for less.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -
all needs to be under one roof - and on-one havent got any groupsets in stock unfortunately0

Thinking about it, the Surly Karate Monkey is a 29"er and Wiggle sell the frameset for £375 which shoudl give you plenty to play with 8)

A 29er is basically a modified MTB frame with 700c wheels, like on road bikes.
Sometimes you can find hybrid type bikes like this quite cheaply.0
