Depends what you want the bike for ?

If you want performance I'd go for some roady type pedals - so Look or Time maybe with Carbon Fibre Shoes.

If you want it for pottering round and nipping to the shops etc - some kind of trainer or MTB type shoes and Time Atac pedals.

You dont want to be swapping pedals all the time - thats a real pain in the ass.

My race bike has Looks, and my winter bike has the Atacs cos i have some thicker MTB shoes that keeps my feet warmer in the winter - plus I can walk at the cafe stops better and winter rides arent as long as my summer training/races.

You may want to try a Shimano A530 Touring pedal. It has spd clips on one side and a flat on the other. It has benefits (one pedal for all occasions) and drawbacks (slightly more difficult to clip in as you've only go the one side, but I'm sure you'd get used to it).

I've just got myself a Cube Aerial.......It's got Look 'Keo easy' pedals.....coming from an MTBing background and having used eggbeaters and SPDs I find being clipped in very natural. The only thing is the pedals are one sided and I find if I have to unclip in traffic I'm constantly looking down to re-clip in. Having said that I've been out on it a few times so I'll give it a month or so and see how I get on. I may go over to SPDs and get the more 'racey' MTB shoes that look almost identical to reoad shoes and almost as stiff too.

A pair of Look Keo's are a solid option. They're nice pedals.

Depends what you're comfortable with though, and as suggested, maybe MTB pedals are an option if you want to be able to clip in on either side.

But as it's a road bike you should get road pedals IMO.. ;)

HI mate i have something similar to the shimano touring pedals they were also double sided so yes it is a problem to clip in /out in traffic or to find it on the go but you do get used to them and if the worst comes to the worst the flat side will hold the cleat nicley till you are back in the right side ( so to speak).

Look at my pics of my new carbon speciallized tarmac 2010, they are on there and are not too bad for a double sided pedal fairly streamined actually. However if you want a serious road set then i have to agree the time or look pedals mentioned already are sooo nice or you could goto Jim walker.com ( i think?) and look at the speedplay pedals they are lovely but you have to buy proper 3 holed racing shoes for most of the models, some do use the standard two hole version but they are nice. Am thinking of getting a pair myself..

Good Luck in finding a fit tht is right for you!
