What's the difference between the Hardrock and Rockhopper ranges?

I've had a quick look at specs and prices but they seem pretty similar.

The whole Rockhopper line is higher up the range than the Hardrock. Base Rockhopper Comp has better spec than Hardrock Pro.

Frame is the single biggest difference between them I suppose but the kit specs on the bike all show the Rockhopper to be the superior bike in every regard. Price is a good indicator as well of where the products sit in relation to each other. Lowest spec Rockhopper is about £200 more than the highest spec Hardrock.

Companies like Specialized try to take care to ensure their product ranges overlap as little as possible.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

So the Hardrock is the Aldi range and the Rockhopper is Waitrose?

    I get you.

(Just checked the specs again and I see what you mean. Must pay more attention next time)

    Cheers for the quick reply.

Besides the components, the frames are different grades of aluminium.

    A1 aluminium for the Hardrock

    M4 aluminium for the Rockhopper

    .
    Not quite ;)

Aldi = Hardrock : A1 Frame and low end components
Tesco = Rockhopper : M4 Frame and mid range components
Waitrose = Stumpjumper : M5 or Carbon Frame and high end components
