Very quick question. Just noticed that my the stock rear hub on my 09 FSRxc has a little play in it (it's a sealed cartridge).

How much is acceptable?
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

In my opinion - none. Even a little can make the rotor move enough to cause rubbing, and it will get worse.

Some cartridge bearings are adjustable depending on type ie Mavic Crossride.

Cheers. That confirms my hunch, and good point about rotor - hadn't considered that. I'll ride on it tomorrow and at the weekend and then have a word about getting it replaced under warranty - not done enough miles to be loose and I have treated the bike well.

Just nipped out to the garage to check.

Specialized "Stout SL". It would of course be handy to know if they are adjustable but my guess is they are not.
